Back in April I had a mishap that resulted in someone’s car door opening up during a wind storm striking my truck while I was still moving. The damage to the truck was fairly minimal. Not wanting to go through the insurance company, I decided to pay for the repair myself. Fortunately for me, the owner of the car whose door hit my truck agreed to pay for the damage. I obtained four estimates. All of which were pretty much the same. 427 Auto’s estimate also included 5 days for a rental car whereas the others didn’t. I was really impressed with their customer service and they took the time to explain what needed to be done. I was told the small dents would have to be repaired, the whole passenger side of the box would have to be painted as well as the half of the rear passenger door be painted to ensure a seamless blend. Of the four estimates I received, 427 Auto’s was the highest. Because they were highly recommended to me, so I chose to have the work performed there.
I had to wait approximately two months before the work could commence due to the fact the shop was so busy. June 4th I brought the truck in, arrangements for a rental were made and I was off to the races. Everything was going great. Where it fell off the rails is they sure took their time fixing the truck. In total they had my truck in the service bay for 13 days. Let’s not forget that I was paying for the rental car. When the truck was finished, it looked great. The paint and repair was second to none. I was really impressed with the job. To deal with the sting of an additional rental charges. My adviser absorbed 3 days off the rental. The only thing that wasn’t completed was a piece of film that needed to be applied at the bottom of the rear box to prevent store chips from occurring. I was told the dealership sent the wrong part and it was reordered and they would call me when to come in when it arrived. That was great but I still felt that due to the minimal damage, they had the truck for too long. In the end it cost me over 500 dollars for the rental. I though the amount of time the truck was in the bay was excessive given the amount of damage. Three small dents, two of which were nearly invisible to the eye and a 6” scratch where the door had come into contact with the paint. The scratch didn’t go through the paint to expose the metal.
As fate would have it, I had another mishap four days later where I needed the corner assembly of my bumper replaced. I was told they would order the parts, paint the bumper section since they still had the paint code on hand and call me to come in when everything’s ready. They said they would install it and it would only take a few hours. Since I had the plastic film matter outstanding, I decided to have the work performed and get it all done in one shot. I hadn’t heard back from them after a reasonable amount of time so I called them up. I left several messages with the adviser and she eventually called me back. It was again over a month and my truck was finally fixed. When it was completed, the bumper pieces didn’t align properly but at the point I was fed up. Who knows how long or how much extra it cost to make it right. So I let it go. I was told they received the wrong part again for the film and would reorder it and call me to come in when it was received. Now its been 4 months and I'm still waiting, still no word from the adviser. My email and calls have not been returned. I assume they just want me to disappear. So I’ll put my tail between my legs, write this matter off as a bad experience, order the film, apply it myself even though I paid for it and expected them to do it.
So all in all, this place can take care of your needs and do a wonderful job. I know several people that have been tickled pink with their work. Their paint shop and dent repair is simply the best. But take warning, if you’re paying out of pocket, I would highly recommend you go somewhere else unless your pockets are deep. The focus here is on high end vehicles and precedence is put with insurance companies. I truly believe my work was set aside to accommodate prestige clients and their insurance companies which left me with extra charges than I had expected.
